In 2025, The House collaborated with ATYP, Teatro O Bando, Theatre Elsinor, and Connect Up to create Chasing the Wind, an original work for young people.
After a successful tour to Bradford and Derby in the UK, Chasing the Wind will be performed in Australia and internationally in 2026 and 2027. With a cast of international performers and emerging Australian musicians, this is a unique artistic collaboration and development opportunity for young artists.
Whispers and Roars is a ten week program for young and emerging song-writers and composers that culminates in a youth festival.
2026 is the 5th year of the Whispers and Roars Festival and we're running workshops in Broken Hill, Tamworth, and Sydney, all ending with a local concert of emerging artists.
An uplifting choral celebration of women's stories is going on tour! 100 Women. 100 Stories is a choral performance engaging 100 women from the local community to sing new works written by 6 composers to sing the stories to life of 100 Women from all over Australia.
In 2026 100 Women 100 Stories will tour to Bondi Pavilion, NSW, and the Women's Club in Sydney, NSW
Six young House Ensemble members will continue working with esteemed composer Felicty Wilcox on this new work. This contemporary opera comprises voices, instruments, electronics, and interaction design.
The work creatively addresses deficits in the representation of female and gender diverse opera-makers and rewrites traditional operatic narratives that cast them as victims of gendered violence.
EDUCATION
Our ensemble of young women aged 14-30 rehearse regularly to develop vocal and physical skills.
The ensemble work with Danielle O'Keefe to develop original work. Past works include SALT, The Howling Girls, and Tender Young Creatures. In 2026 they will develop a new immersive choral work, FIRE, with three recently graduated composers from Sydney Conservatorium.
JOIN TOY CHOIR!
In 2026, Toy choir will continue to hold a space for girls aged 10-16 learn to play the ukulele, write songs, and perform in a fun, inclusive community on Saturday mornings.
Toy Choir is commissioned to write and perform new original songs for NSW events such as SXSW.
NSW Institutions such as the Australian museum and the AGNSW commission Toy Choir to lead audiences through their venues and exhibits with songs written specifically for young people by young people.
