A hands on, high energy week of music-making for young people aged
10-24.
No experience needed!
Whether you're just starting out or already writing songs, this program is designed to build your confidence, creativity, and performance skills.
How does the week work?
The program is split into two age groups, with sessions designed to grow skills step-by-step across the week.
AGES 10-13 (MORNING SESSIONS | 10AM-12PM)
A fun and supportive introduction to music-making:

Friday: Learn to sing and play ukulele

Saturday: Learn to song write in groups

Sunday: Write your own original song
Perfect for beginners or young creatives wanting to try something new.
AGES 14-24 (AFTERNOON SESSIONS | 1PM-3PM)
A deeper dive into songwriting and music production:

Thursday: Intro to songwriting

Friday: Break down lyrics + add chords

Saturday: Write your own song

Sunday: Recording skills + stacking vocals

TEACHING ARTISTS

Tallulah Simpson
Tallulah is an artist, filmmaker and performer, creating on Gadigal land. With extensive experience in theatre and music both on and backstage, she is deeply passionate about collaborating with, uplifting and supporting female and gender nonconforming artists and students. Working as a performer, composer and teacher for the House that Dan Built since 2021, she has had the privilege of running weekly singing and songwriting classes for young girls, as well as running regional outreach workshops in performance and music around NSW since 2022.

FREYA MOORE
Freya Moore (she/her) is a Sydney based actor and performer who graduated from NIDA’s Diploma of Stage and Screen Performance in 2021. Most recently she had been working on Definitely Not A Hungry Game: A Parody Musical where she was a producer, co-writer and played the lead role of Katniss Everdeen. The show had three runs in Sydney and Adelaide, selling out their Sydney Fringe run at the Eternity Playhouse last September. Freya has been working with The House that Dan Built since 2022 across developments, compositions, performances and workshops. She has extensive experience on the stage including reprising her role in Australia Felix at The Roslyn Packer Theatre, playing Rosie in Things I Know To Be True and Catherine in Proof, as well a background in music and musical theatre.

HELEN GRIMBO
Helen is an artist, composer and music producer from Sydney, Australia.
Classically trained, she began her musical education from a young age as a clarinettist and saxophonist, and went on to become a composer for film and television after graduating at the Australian Film and Television Radio School (AFTRS) in 2012.
Currently, Helen works as a vocal performer and teacher in Sydney, and plays around Sydney with her band hellogrimbo.

Soren Goulding
Soren is an artist in Sydney who does music and writing things sometimes, and also recently university comedy. Sometimes they are quite good at drawing too, but that one really depends on the day. They have been involved with the House That Dan Built since 2016, and in 2021 they were the House apprentice. Lately though they’ve mostly been working on drawing little cartoons and making zines.
