DENILIQUIN MUSIC WORKSHOPS
CALLING OUT TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN DENILIQUIN!
Join us for a series of music workshops at South West Arts across May & June. This is a free opportunity for participants to get involved in our new school holiday program, which learning DJ'ing, singing, lyrics, soundscaping, performing, songwriting and other musical skills!
PROGRAM LEADERS
Zara Lindeman
​
Zara is a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist with a passion for country music. She has a Diploma of Music Industry (Performance) and has been teaching classroom and one-on-one music in the South West Region of NSW. Zara is a recent graduate of the CMAA Academy of Country Music. She performs around the Riverina as a solo artist and as the lead-singer of a band. In late 2022, Zara released her debut single.
Jayden Selvakumaraswamy
​
Jayden Selvakumaraswamy is a multidisciplinary Sri Lankan-Irish soprano vocalist. She is the Artistic Associate at The House That Dan Built and has has been a member and performer of this organisation since 2014. She has trained in classical ballet for 11 years, and has been vocally trained since she was eight. She was a vocalist in Sydney Chamber Opera’s world premier of The Howling Girls in 2018 & 2019 for Tokyo Festival. She performed in the chorus of Angelica Mesiti’s work ASSEMBLY for the Venice Biennale 2019. Jayden is a backup vocalist for Jessica O’Donoghue’s ‘Rise Up’ album launch across 2022 and 2023. She continues to explore the female voice and its development over time through music.
Karmel Jäger

I am a classical singer, composer, music producer, DJ, educator and topliner. As an educator I have worked with Australian Shakespeare Company Education, London Youth Choirs, students at Big Music and as a private music tutor. I built a freelance classical singing career here in Sydney before relocating and performing and recording in London. Since moving back to Sydney, I have built a career as a DJ and music producer alongside singing. Some highlights of my career include recording vocals for various blockbuster films at Abbey Road Studios including Avengers, Star Wars, Jurassic World and Dr Strange; DJing for WeLove (Burdekin Hotel), the Australian Museum and Undisclosed (Club 77); performing at Royal Festival Halls, The Barbican Centre and St Martin-in-the-Fields.

We are looking for girls and women to sing with us in DENILIQUIN!!!!

During the 2020 lockdowns, The House That Dan Built recruited 100 women from around Australia to participate in a multi-faceted community engagement project. They shared stories of resilience, connection to community, and reflections on their lives through one on one interviews and group interactions - and simultaneously stitched together a garment (a red cape) that would be passed onto 100 girls.

We are looking for women and girls to sing with us.
We have 3 songs sessions. You can join one or all!
