A music theatre journey for all ages 10+

There's something in the air. Change. But it's not a maths test, or a fight, or finally getting to see her favourite punk band. No, this is bigger.

Micka, 14 years old, headstrong and full of curiosity, feels the change and tries desperately to ignore it. But as the waters rise, the roads shut off, and the rain never seems to stop, she’s in for a rude awakening.

Chasing the Wind tells of change, the courage it requires, and the fear it brings. Drawing on global experiences of disaster and community, an international ensemble brings a story about our time to the stage – a story about our time and a future that we can shape.

Filled with original songs, movement, and heartfelt relationships, Chasing the Wind is a family show that empowers the next generation, asking them how they’ll find their community to weather the storm.

At the beginning of 2026 “Chasing the Wind” will be performed in Sydney."Chasing the Wind" is an international collaboration between four leading companies creating work for young audiences.

Combining music, movement, storytelling and different languages, this is a story for a borderless world. The wind blows across continents, but change is rarely what you expect.

The project is modelled after hugely successful collaboration, Patrice Balbina’s Chance Encounter, which saw a team of ten international artists create artwork for young audiences that was premiered at ATYP in 2016 before transferring to Vancouver, then going on to further seasons at the ASSITEJ World Congress in South Africa and the Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival on the GoldCoast.
